Tutorial Description:

Learn how to transform any new image, into a classic photograph, like the ones you would find in your grandmothers photo album.

This is the finished product from this tutorial, a pictured looking like wasted and old.

Old picture.

I’m going to show a simple technique to make your pictures looking old (one of the many techniques available). But this one is very interesting and is not much known. First, open your picture, I used that one:

Before picture - so new.

Now go to: Image > Mode > Grayscale. Then go to: Image > Mode > Duotone.

In the duotone settings, put ink 1 as black and for the second ink, choose a yellow/brown color, like “PANTONE 1245 C” for example.

Now it’s time to apply a filter, go to Filter > Artistic > Film Grain. Apply on your own taste, but this is the settings that I used:

After this go to Image > Adjust > Levels. Adjust it to make it look fine, I used this settings:

It’s done! Here’s the final image again:

Hover over to see “before” image.

I hope that you enjoyed this tutorial.
